Rosas

Rosas was published in the spring of 1994. The author Mr. Mahmoud Mostajir has used a new style of writing in Farsi that would capture the reader's attention. In Rosas he shows a new way of looking at love and friendship. The book is about a romance between Pajvak (Philosophy Professor) and his favorite student Rosas (A talented artist).

The story starts during the spring of the year 1357 (Iranian calendar) at one of the colleges in Tehran. While Pajvak and Rosas spent many evenings walking and exploring different places together, through their conversation they take the reader to the time before the revolution and talk about Philosophy, Painting, Poetry, and the Art. Love, like a pleasant warm air is always around them and it is in their words and behavior toward each other.

Pajvak at first is infatuated by another student "Nahal" in his class. She is very beautiful and charming "...there is youth, excitement, eagerness, a burning desire, and innocence in her..."

On the other hand Rosas without showing her love toward Pajvak, shows him that real love starts with friendship, and that friendship is far more important than love. But then with her deliberate and clever behavior Pajvak is attracted to her and then..."...but Rosas is above them all..."

Mr. Mostajir is a regular writer for the Asheghaneh Magazine. He was editor in chief of the Art and Literature section of "Sokhan" magazine in Iran. He received his Masters Degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Tehran University. However, he spent most of his life teaching Iranian Literature and worked for the Department of Education. To his credit are three other books, "Hezar Nokteh", "Shirin Zabaniha", and "Dar Onsouye Payan".
