In Search of Humna Origin

From Kourosh

DoustAneh aziz,

Before talking about events and schedules, I'd like to wish everyone a happy new year and hope that this Spring marks the begining of a year filled with joy and prosperity for you and yours.

I apologize for the late notice on this week's doreh. I was trying to put together a doreh appropriate to Eid, something with a little bit of tradition and a little bit of "bazm". I have been talking to Kambiz AriAyee-NedjAd for the past week or so trying to organize an event with him. He studies music at SJSU and also teaches a special persian music course. I had asked him to be our guest this week to talk a bit about himself, his work, and the different ways that we can benefit from his unique position in SJSU and the access he has to the facilities on campus.

To make a long story even longer(!), he had to cancel for this week due to some emergency that has come up. This was Monday night! So, I have been working on plan B since then and here it is.

As you may recall, Behnam e-mailed everyone about 2 weeks ago to tell us about this special he had recorded from PBS on the origins of human beings. Even though this won't have a heck of a lot to do with Eid(!), but since all other doors have been slammed shut, we're gonna go with the movie.

I will (graciously!) volunteer my place for this event. We'll make it even more casual than normal. Behnam won't be able to make it on Thursday. So there won't even be a talk about the movie (I'll include his original message in this mail for those who don't remember what the movie is about). Let's get together around 7:30. We can order a pizza if there's enough interest, hang out and talk behind the people who're not there...and then start the movie around 8ish.

I want propose a subject for one of the dorehs. The subject is the video "In Search of Humna Origin" that I recorded from PBS last night. It is a fascinating video to watch and discusses many new theories and discoveries about our ancestors on this planet. It tries to explain some great mysteries like:

The video is about 2-hours long. Let me know.
